Free School Meal Incentive

We’d like to remind all our Parents that if you are on an income below the value of £16,190 your child qualifies for Free School Meals. Pupils on our Free School Meals register, then they qualify for all sorts of other financial benefits throughout the year and we enhance their education throughout the school day as seen on our website.

When a student is on our Free School Meals register, the school receives extra funding for that student which is spent on the education of Free School Meals students. This extra money is called the Pupil Premium and its purpose is to ensure that children from low income families are not at a disadvantage during their education as a result of home financial circumstances. Some of the new benefits now on offer at Whatfield Primary are as follows:

  • One free school sweatshirt per academic year
  • One free book bag on entry to reception class
  • Subsidised school trips
  • Heavily subsidised residential trips
  • Subsidised After School club
  • Free school milk

If you’d like further information or would like to apply for Free School Meals, our office staff will be only too happy to talk to you or help you fill out the form (attached).

So if you think you may be eligible, do apply. You have nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain!
