Oak Class Teacher
Hello! My name is Adam Hitchin and I have been teaching since 2014, though I first discovered my love of working with children much earlier through running drama classes from the age of 18.
I moved to Hadleigh from Essex and am thoroughly enjoying life in Suffolk. Before teaching, I worked in my family business fitting kitchens and bathrooms, which gave me a lasting enthusiasm for Design & Technology. My real passion, however, lies in Computing, and I also lead Mathematics and Science at Whatfield – roles I greatly enjoy.
In my previous school, I taught across Years 3 and 5 for seven years. Whatfield is the second school I have taught in, and I love the close-knit community and warm, family feel here. Having attended a Church of England primary school myself, being part of Whatfield brings back many fond memories.
I live with my wife, Sarah, who runs Act First Drama School in Hadleigh. Alongside my teaching at Whatfield, I also work with Act First, creating mixed media drama projects, and I teach drama on Saturdays at Woodbridge. We have two children, Emilia and Stanley, who both attended Whatfield.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking with our dog Holly, gaming when I can, and tackling DIY projects.
