Whatfield Primary Curriculum Statement

At Whatfield we are a Church of England School and our aims and values are all linked to Christian beliefs.

Our curriculum has been designed to ensure each and every child can ‘live life in all its fullness’ by offering stimulating and awe inspiring learning experiences with Christian Values at its heart. At Whatfield CEVC Primary School we believe in a broad and balanced curriculum where all subjects are valued.

Whatfield provides a highly inclusive environment where learners enjoy their education.  Pupils at all levels are helped to achieve their potential.

As a small, rural school we want to ensure that children develop as outward looking learners who are able to engage in learning about themselves and understand their community, the wider world and show respect for the  diverse cultures of the world.

Ultimately our curriculum is intended to give children a strong sense of self by understanding and developing:

• who they are as individuals;
• how they live and learn and where they fit in the world;
• the value of their unique achievements;
• and their aspirations, underpinned by our focus on achievement for all.

National Curriculum

In the national curriculum, the government has set out the learning objectives which our children work towards. We use this to structure our own curriculum plan, but also incorporate additional work, especially commemorations and important events in the calendar.

Religious Education - Parents and carers should be aware that they have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE) lessons. If you wish to exercise this right, please contact the school to discuss the process and options available.

Long Term Plans
