The government provides £150 million additional funds to help improve and sustain PE and Sport provision in primary schools. This money is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. Each school has received £16,000 plus an extra £10 per pupil each year. The money has been spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
Schools should spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but have the freedom to choose how to do this.
